Together, the two companies will provide transmission technology for Japan’s terrestrial broadcasting sector, specifically focusing on Studio-to-Transmitter Link and Transmitter-to-Transmitter Link (STL/TTL) applications.
Adtran brings a strong lineup of Precision Time Protocol (PTP)-related products, including a PTP synchronization profile conversion package, as well as optical access and metro transmission solutions that integrate seamlessly with Media Links’ offerings. By combining Adtran’s advanced PTP technology with Media Links’ expertise in STL/TTL transmission solutions, the partnership aims to drive the adoption of IP/PTP over microwave lines in Japan’s broadcasting market.
Media Links has led the industry in proposing IP/PTP-based STL/TTL transmission solutions to broadcasters worldwide. Recently, broadcasters requested a solution using IP/PTP over microwave circuits, and Media Links needed a product supporting the Telecom Profile protocol for microwave transmission. After evaluating Adtran’s PTP synchronous profile conversion package, Media Links found it to be an effective solution and incorporated it into their solution. Together, Media Links and Adtran will now work to expand IP/PTP STL/TTL solutions for the Japanese market and beyond.
