JPEG-XS live feeds from competition venues to broadcasting center were transported using MDP3020 gateways and Xscend Media over IP systems
Kawasaki, Japan – October 8, 2026: Media Links, a leading developer and manufacturer of IP media transport solutions, today announced that its Xscend® platform and MDP3020 IP media gateways was selected to support live broadcast contribution for the All-Asia Games, that recently took place in Japan.
Running from September through October 2026, the All-Asia Games is one of the region’s largest multi-sport events. For Media Links, the project brings decades of experience transporting live video for major international sporting events to the All-Asia Games for the first time.
MDP3020 IP Media Gateways were deployed at the venues and Xscend 2RU Media over IP systems were installed at the broadcasting center. Live video was encoded using JPEG-XS and transported to the broadcasting center, where Xscend received and aggregated feeds for distribution to broadcasters and media rights holders across Asia.
The Media Links solution combines the flexibility needed for a distributed, multi-venue event with the protection required for live sports. The compact systems can be remotely configured as requirements change, and JPEG-XS reduces bandwidth requirements while maintaining visually lossless image quality and very low latency.
“Major sporting events leave very little room for uncertainty. With dozens of venues feeding live content into a central broadcast operation, the transport layer has to be dependable while adapting quickly as requirements change,” said Toshiyuki Naka, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Media Links. “That is where our experience comes into play. It is an approach to reliable IP transport that we have refined through years of supporting some of the world’s largest live sporting events.”
Media Links regional partner NSR (New Share Report) proposed the solution in cooperation with SinoTech, the systems integrator supporting the deployment. The selection reflects both Media Links’ track record in large-scale live sports and the practical requirements of the all-Asia Games deployment.
